National Student Award
  1. membership in DES;
  2. an overall grade point average of 3.90-4.00 on all work taken as an undergraduate;
  3. further evidence of high scholarship
    1. grade of "A" or the highest level of distinction on an approved undergraduate thesis or its equivalent in the major field. (The equivalency must be justified in writing by the department chair or mentor.);
    2. scores at the 90th percentile or better on a nationally recognized test (e.g., GRE, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT);
  4. endorsements by the chapter advisor, the department chair or mentor, and the chief academic officer;
  5. nominations may be made after seven (7) semesters and must be made no later than six (6) months after the granting of the undergraduate degree.

The award consists of a gold-plated medallion and publication of the recipient's name in the Journal.
Only one award will be made by a chapter.

CHAPTER AWARD

Chapter awards may be made as gifts to outstanding graduates, outgoing officers of the Chapter, guest speakers, Chapter moderators, members elected with faculty status, and alumni who have distinguished themselves and the Chapter by particular actions. The gold-plated medallion, available from the National Office for a nominal fee, has a smooth reverse suitable for engraving.
